This show was NOT what I'd planned... At the start of this stand-up show, I made a questionable decision : I handed my laptop to a random audience member because he told me he had been picked on by a comedian in another show and was trying to get over it. He then sat on a chair stage and controlled my PowerPoint for the entire performance. He had no instructions other than “press the space bar” when I pointed at him. However, because he had no restrictions it meant he had absolutely no reason to behave responsibly. The result is, Held at PowerPoint — a stand-up comedy special where one audience member unexpectedly decides what appears on screen while I try to keep the show on track and him in line. Sometimes the slides help the jokes. Sometimes they completely derail them and they morph into something else. Most of the time… things go in directions neither of us expected. It’s not a crowd work show. Or a PowerPoint show. Or a storytelling show. It’s chaotic and fun and very much its own thing! There are jokes, callbacks, ad-libs, call backs to ad-libs, weird heckle put downs and many unexpected laughs. I’m proud of this one.
